

MUSCAT: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, received on Sunday Charles Michel, former president of the European Council and former prime minister of the Kingdom of Belgium.
During the meeting, a number of regional and global developments were reviewed and views were exchanged. Both sides emphasised the importance of supporting political efforts aimed at containing tensions and creating favourable conditions to restore security, stability and peace, as well as adhering to uniform standards and respecting the sovereignty of states and the rules of international law.
The guest praised the modern renaissance of the Sultanate of Oman and its balanced and wise foreign policy in dealing with various events and challenges, in addition to its steadfast commitment to a policy of peace and friendship with all.
He also expressed his appreciation for the talks and meetings he conducted during his first visit to the Sultanate of Oman and the warm reception and hospitality he received. Furthermore, he noted the tangible openness to tourism and business, and the attractiveness of Oman's safe geographical and logistical location for trade and economic partnerships across shipping lanes connecting the East, West, North and South.
The meeting also touched upon the development of Omani-Belgian relations, as well as relations with Europe in general and the prospects for developing and enhancing these relations in various fields. - ONA
